Mapping Microsoft PC Keyboard for Eclipse in Macbook
When I got a new job in 11 street, I was given a Macbook Pro as a workstation, because I always use my favorite mechanical Windows PC keyboard I was having problem to do navigation inside Enclipse (ADT) because the mapping of the Eclipse ADT is different and set to default for regular Mac users.
To change the key mapping for editing, go to ADT main menu -> Preferences -> General -> Keys then I can change many mapping keyboard shortcut and what I changed was :
Next Word : Control -> Previous Word : Control <- Copy : Control C Paste : Control V Cut : Control X Undo : Control Z Select All : Control A Word Completion : Control Space Find/Replace : Control F Toggle Comment : Control /
For "Word Completion" to work properly to use key combination of CTRL SPACE then we must disable Mac spotlight default shortcut key by going into System Preference -> Keyboard -> Select the "Keyboard Shortcuts" -> on the left menu select "Spotlight" then on the right side UNCHECK the "Show Spotlight search field".
For "Next Word" and "Previous Word" to work properly to use key combination of CTRL left/right then we must disable the Mac default shortcut key by going into System Preference -> Keyboard -> Select the "Keyboard Shortcuts" -> on the left menu select "Mission Control" then on the right side UNCHECK the "Move left a space" and "Move right a space", see the captured screen shot.
